I
describe my work as Urban Romanticism. It is a reflection of the way I grew up, obstacles I have overcome, and how I
see myself fit in today's society. The work addresses the issues in my life concerning race, loss, and sexuality. I used glass in conjunction with other mediums, space, as well as my own body in some cases to resolve the thoughts and emotions that I have. My most recent work has been stained glass, installation and mixed media. Elements of urban landscapes, images of family, and many distorted self portraits are often found in my work. I use those images along with my experiences to create what I hope are raw and evocative compositions into two and three dimensional objects and spaces. An important component of my 2d work is creating a dynamic relationship between color and illumination. I am interested in color and its ability to convey emotion. I bring my selection of rich vibrant colors to life through the manipulation of light whether it be natural or fluorescent, reflected or transmitted.
